Herbie goes trunk or treating

So, what does a little white VW Beetle have to do with the Halloween? How many people get to dress their cars up? That's what we did this Saturday. Our Herbie had blue and red streamers and a cabin full of balloons (only two got away accidentally).

J found a helium tank at Party City when we went to go pick up the streamers. His idea was born and we carried out 50 balloons and the tank in addition to our streamers for Herbie.

He loved blowing up the first 10 or so balloons and then the "chore" part of it set in. 40 balloons later we almost had cured the excitement of helium balloons... that is until we started handing out candy & balloons for the trunk or treat. The smiles on the friendly little ghouls, goblins, princesses, Transformers, and a few little angels were reward enough. I think he'll do it again.

Bette Davis Eyes vs Death Star Take Two

Gownbidder sold another dress this week! While we were waiting in line at the post office J pointed out the Bette Davis postage stamps. Surely, this is additional evidence that Bette Davis is a significant icon in popular culture. Needless to say, we purchased those stamps. Shortly after arriving home this required additional research by J to make sure that there was also a death star stamp available. While not part of the official and much cooler looking star wars stamp sheet, the death star stamp is available. Likely some postage official decided they didn't want people getting letters with the death star on them. That would be traumatic!

Help, our squash is sick!

Well, the sad news for the week. We lost our summer squash this week.

We really aren't sure why. It died suddenly with vegetables still on the vine. J looked for bores but didn't see anything. If anyone with greater gardening expertise has any insight. We'd love to know what happened.
