Another Door Opens

Well, some might say we've now become a statistic of the troubled economy. M was laid off of work on Friday. Overall, the mood at the Finnigan house is positive. We are grateful the numerous blessings we have been given and we are looking forward to the opportunities the Lord has in store for us. Who knows, perhaps the Lord is opening a door to bless us with children?

Often in her job working with incarcerated women, when one became frustrated M would invite that person to take a 5 minute break and come back with a list of all the things they were grateful for. In commemoration of her experiences in Perryville prison M would like to share her own list of the things she is grateful for:

1. The guidance of a prophet who teaches us how to prepare for the whirlwinds and threats that exist in the world.

2. The love of a husband who endures through his trials with steadfastness and continues to choose to love his wife and treats her with respect and kindness.

3. The 200+ women I have worked with at Perryville who have demonstrated to me by their examples happiness in adversity, growth through trials, and in many cases an unrelenting effort to improve themselves for their future.

4. A small but vital network of extended family and friends who love us in spite of our weaknesses, who support us in our challenges, and who give us the space to learn from our mistakes.

5. The tender mercies of the Lord. They have been abundant in the last few days and the resulting peace has been faith promoting.

We are looking forward to the new opportunities in store for M and our family. May God Bless each of you during these difficult times, and may we remember that success is available to all but none of us can reach it on our own.

I'm so sorry to hear about the lost job. But I think that your attitude is just perfect. The Lord will bless you!
